04 Dec Island Portrait Ideas: Preparing For Your Captiva Island Family Portraits
We have had the pleasure of photographing the Medlin family for many years. We have been capturing their Captiva Island family portraits since 2009. Like many of our clients, they have utilized their vacation to have amazing one of a kind beach family portrait. If you are thinking about having Sebrie Images Photography take your family portraits in Southwest Florida, consider the location, time and clothing options.
Southwest Florida family portraits can have several different looks. If you are interested in the beach, tropical gardens, historical sites or a downtown feel, you came to the right place! Some Southwest Florida portrait locations can offer more than one look. Captiva Island has lush greenery and beautiful sand beaches, with a great sunset view. If you are staying on a private home the best Captiva Island portrait location is frequently right out front. Many beach homes offer private beach access that is gorgeous and free from tourists that dot the backgrounds of busier Captiva beach location portraits. If you are staying at one of the many resorts on the island, they too have great spots for portraits. The advantage to resorts is if you are not interested in beach, they typically have lush green lawns and beautiful marinas that can be a great backdrop for portraits. Our Captiva Island Photographers know all the best locations on the Island and can help recommend several locations to fit your needs.
Timing is very important for your Southwest Florida family portraits. The best time is either early morning within an hour of sunrise, or an hour before sunset, known as the “golden hour.” This can be one of the most important things to consider, as it will set the tone for your Captiva Island Family portraits. Early morning offers beautiful and fresh lighting that captures the essence of the Island. This time is perfect as weather conditions are typically calmer and the beach calm and spacious. If you like the idea of sunset, then booking a portrait an hour before during the golden hour is the best option for you. At this time, you can get a mix of bright blue skies, along with bold sunset colors. If there is a different time that you needed to work around, our Captiva Island Photographers can help you fit your specific needs.
Comfortable and coordinated clothing is always preferred for family portraits. The clothing does not have to be matching, but a harmonious color scheme can make the difference between a good session and a great session. Beach tones, shades of blue, earthy and sunset tones are great for the beach. Neutrals are a favorite as well. Many women prefer the way their arms photograph with a sleeve.
Captiva Island family portraits can be personally customized to your family portrait need. Whether you like the beach, tropical greens or sunsets, it is all waiting here to be captured by our Captiva Island photographers.
